The ingredient list on the back of a product can look like a wall of long names. It is easier to read once you know a few simple rules.
Order matters
Ingredients are usually listed from the largest amount to the smallest. The first few items make up most of the product.
Look for what you know
Water, glycerin and common oils are familiar names. If a name is unfamiliar, search for it before you buy rather than guessing.
Check for what you avoid
If you know that a certain ingredient does not suit you, scan the list for it every time. Formulas can change between versions of the same product.
